Jerónimo Abogado Holds Second in Windsurfing at Central American and Caribbean Games

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo windsurfer Jerónimo Abogado is still in the hunt for a medal at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, after moving into second place with 11 races completed at Playa Salinas.

With five races remaining, Abogado trails Aruba’s Ethan Westera, who leads the men’s iQFoil class. The Mexican, a member of Club de Vela Puerto Aventuras, has accumulated 18 points. After a rest day on Tuesday, competition resumes on Wednesday and Thursday.

In the women’s competition, Mexico’s Mariana Aguilar also holds second place. Both sailors are aiming for podium finishes.

Quintana Roo’s Miguel Pani Can is serving as a race official for Mexico in Santo Domingo. He has dedicated his life to promoting and strengthening sailing in the country, sharing his passion for the sport and Mexican athletes.

The Mexican delegation is celebrating the strong performance of Quintana Roo sailors on the international stage. Meanwhile, other Mexican competitors are participating in the Junior 470 World Championship in Gdynia, Poland.
