The municipalities of Quintana Roo have prepared extensive calendars for both residents and tourists interested in learning more about Maya traditions.

Playa del Carmen

• "Pixan Peek" Canine Costume Contest (October 31)
  The Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts of Playa del Carmen has invited the community to participate in a pet costume contest for dogs. This activity aims to promote family togetherness and a love for animals. Dogs of any breed may be registered, provided they are represented by an adult resident of the municipality.

• "Mexican Alebrijes" Costume Contest, Children's Category (November 1)
  The Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts of Playa del Carmen has issued a call for entries for a contest aimed at girls and boys between 4 and 9 years of age from the municipality, with the purpose of encouraging creativity and cultural participation among children.

• Day of the Dead Costume Contest (November 1)
  The Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts of Playa del Carmen has announced a call for entries for an event for people 13 years and older, who are residents of the municipality. Participants may enter in groups of no less than three and no more than five members. The activity seeks to promote artistic expression and community involvement.

• Catrín and Catrina Costume Contest – Couples Category (November 1)
  The general public of the municipality of Playa del Carmen may participate. Participation can be individual or group-based.

• 2025 Altar Contest (November 2)
  Canine pets without distinction of breed may join this contest, represented by an adult from the municipality of Playa del Carmen.
