Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Isla Mujeres is overseeing a comprehensive renovation of Las Iguanas Park, aiming to transform it into a hub for youth sports, recreation, and community activities.
The project includes the construction of a jogging track, public restrooms, a zip line, exercise equipment, and lighting, among other amenities. Officials say these upgrades will provide a safe and suitable environment for children and young people to engage in physical activity and socialize.
Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde has emphasized that her administration is committed to revitalizing public spaces that had been neglected for years, turning them into functional, quality areas for island families. She stated that the government is working “with heart” for the youth of Isla Mujeres, whom she described as the present and future of the community.
The renovation of Las Iguanas Park is part of broader efforts to promote the development and well-being of young residents through improved public infrastructure.
