Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde receiving the Valores 2025 award for Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Isla Mujeres won the Valores 2025 award in the category “Best Tourist Destination of the Year,” a prize received by Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde during the 11th edition of this Gala.

The distinction highlights the work promoted by the administration of Atenea Gómez to strengthen the tourism competitiveness of Isla Mujeres through actions that consolidate an organized, safe destination with quality infrastructure.

“Isla Mujeres is not just another tourist destination in the Mexican Caribbean. It is living proof that transformation is not a political slogan, but a tangible reality that changes lives and improves communities,” emphasized the island mayor.

“What shines today is not only the turquoise sea or the white sand: the people of Isla Mujeres shine, their warmth, their generosity, their sense of community,” she added.

During her administration, the Malecón Caribe has been rehabilitated, the Corredor Escultórico de Punta Sur has been renewed, and Playa Norte and Playa Centro have been consolidated among the best in the world, in addition to strengthening permanent cleaning and maintenance tasks, which provide certified beaches in optimal conditions for island families and visitors.

The Valores magazine chose Isla Mujeres among multiple destinations at the national level, highlighting its sustained growth, improvement in public services, and quality of life for residents and visitors.

The Valores Award annually recognizes people, institutions, and municipalities that stand out for their commitment and excellence in public service, government administration, and social and economic development.
