Cancún, MX — An unidentified individual confronted two National Guard officers this morning, causing traffic disruptions in the Hotel Zone of this city.
The incident occurred at kilometer 12 of Kukulcán Boulevard, near Isla Dorada, where tourists and locals observed two National Guard officers struggling with a young man in the middle of the roadway, halting traffic for several minutes.
Although there is no official information yet about what led to this man’s detention, according to witness accounts, the individual was disturbing public order, allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
During the maneuvers to subdue him, the individual seized the magazine from one of the officers’ weapons; subsequently, one officer managed to take him down while the other attempted to handcuff him, but was unable due to the man’s sudden movements.
The National Guard officers managed to subdue the individual after a citizen approached and helped the officers move the man to the sidewalk.
Finally, the officers managed to calm the individual, then carried out the arrest and transferred him to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Vehicular traffic, which was only halted in one of the two directions of the roadway, returned to normal shortly afterward.
