Skull found in black bag, bones scattered around grave — locals suspect witchcraft
A disturbing discovery was made this afternoon at the Playa del Carmen’s Municipal Cemetery in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood when visitors came across a partially unearthed skeleton.
Police were called to the scene around noon after someone noticed a human skull inside a black plastic bag and the rest of the bones scattered around a grave.
According to witnesses, this isn’t the first time bones have been found in this condition. Some nearby residents believe the remains may have been exhumed for ritualistic or witchcraft-related purposes.
Municipal police and investigators responded to the scene, documented the situation, and collected the remains. The bones were eventually returned to the grave.
Authorities have not released further details, and it remains unclear whether the incident was an act of vandalism or something more sinister.
