Cancun, Quintana Roo — A hotel employee shot a coworker in the neck after an argument on their staff transport, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. outside Cancun Mall in the Region 228 neighborhood, as workers were returning from their shift at a hotel on Kukulcan Boulevard in Cancun’s hotel zone.
According to initial reports, the two men were arguing on the staff bus when the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired, striking the victim in the neck. The shooter then fled the scene.
Bystanders rushed the wounded man to a hospital in a private vehicle before emergency services arrived.
Municipal police and investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) arrived at the scene to collect evidence and begin an investigation.
Authorities have not released the victim’s condition or a motive for the attack. The search for the suspect is ongoing.
