Valladolid, Mexico — The Hotel Mesón del Marqués, an iconic establishment in the Magical Town of Valladolid, has received the Tesoros de México (Treasures of Mexico) Distinction for its excellence in hospitality, colonial architecture, and gastronomy with a unique identity. The award was presented by Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, the head of the federal Secretary of Tourism.
The recognition distinguishes hotels and restaurants that meet high standards of quality, hospitality, and the preservation of cultural heritage. In this edition, the Mesón del Marqués was the sole establishment honored, standing out among more than 1,300 distinctions awarded by the Secretary.
During the ceremony, Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that the "Tesoros de México" program is aimed at establishments that successfully demonstrate excellence in three main areas: hospitality, heritage architecture, and gastronomy with its own identity.
For the hotel, the recognition represents the consolidation of a continuous improvement process that has included the professional development of its staff and the implementation of quality management systems, according to its director, Rodrigo Escalante.
A Hotel with a Rich History in Valladolid
With more than half a century of history, the Mesón del Marqués occupies a 17th-century manor house that has been adapted to offer modern tourist services without losing its colonial character. It currently features 85 rooms distributed across different categories, an outdoor swimming pool, event halls, and private parking.
The hotel has previously received other recognitions for its quality practices, such as the Distintivo H, the Punto Limpio, the Premio Yucatán a la Calidad, and the ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Since 2022, the Mesón del Marqués has been part of the Tesoros de México program, which brings together establishments considered representative of the country's culture, architecture, and gastronomy.
