Holbox, Mexico — Dozens of residents of Holbox bid farewell this afternoon to Amauri Mena Villanueva, leader of the island’s maritime transport and brother of the current municipal president of Lázaro Cárdenas, Nivardo Mena.
Relatives, friends, and employees of the company Nueve Hermanos were the protagonists of the final goodbye to who was considered one of the most important businessmen in his field in the northern part of the state.
The coffin with the remains of the businessman was placed on an all-terrain motorcycle, where it was transported so that dozens of people could say goodbye to him.
Mena Villanueva was one of the owners of the shipping company Nueve Hermanos, which has been dedicated for several decades to maritime transport between Chiquilá and Holbox.
The death of the businessman was announced yesterday by Mayor Nivardo Mena Villanueva, who did not detail the causes of his brother’s death.
Unofficial data indicate that the businessman may have lost his life due to a heart attack, as he had been seen hours earlier in his usual work.
