Holbox Pride 2026 Draws Over 1,000 Attendees, Boosts Lodging by 40%
Holbox, Quintana Roo — The second edition of Holbox Pride 2026 concluded with more than 1,000 attendees and a 40% increase in hotel occupancy, organizers said, cementing the event as a key driver of inclusive tourism in the region.
Over three days, the island hosted cultural, musical, and artistic activities, along with health workshops, drawing domestic and international tourists as well as local residents. Christian Stenta, president of the Holbox Hotel Association, said the event reinforced the island’s commitment to inclusion and its international Queer Destinations certification, which recognizes Holbox as a safe space for LGBTQ+ travelers.
A highlight of the festival was the beach march, described as the only Pride parade in Mexico held on sand and facing the sea, blending nature, tourism, and diversity.
Organizers, sponsors, and local business owners noted that the event not only generated economic benefits but also promoted a culture of respect and visibility for the LGBTQ+ community, strengthening Holbox’s social and tourism fabric.
