Police officers and forensic investigators at the scene of a shooting outside a bar in Cancún, Mexico

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Gunmen opened fire at a bar in Cancún on Thursday, killing one man in the latest violent attack targeting an entertainment venue in the tourist city.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. at an establishment on Calle 103 and Avenida Talleres in the area known as Primera Entrada de la 94, within Supermanzana 219. The venue, which previously operated under the names El Zarandeado and Águila Real, currently has no official name.

Witnesses reported that armed individuals arrived at the location and fired at least six shots, causing panic among patrons and nearby residents who fled for safety.

A man inside the bar sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including a critical injury to his chest. Bystanders transported him in a private vehicle to the IMSS Ginecopediatría clinic, but doctors pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.

Municipal police officers responded to the scene and established a security perimeter. Forensic experts from the State Prosecutor’s Office collected spent shell casings and other evidence for their investigation.

This marks the second shooting at this location so far this year. Authorities are working to identify the perpetrators and determine a motive for the attack.
