Cancún Grocery Owner Stabbed in Robbery

Cancún, Mexico — A grocery store owner in the Paseos del Mar neighborhood of Cancún was murdered on Friday afternoon after being attacked with a bladed weapon by a robber inside his own store. The alleged criminal managed to escape to an unknown location after perpetrating the assault, while some customers witnessed the events without being able to intervene.

The incident took place on Margaritas Avenue, near the intersection with Lakin, in supermanzana 251. According to preliminary reports, an unidentified man entered the establishment with the apparent intention of committing a robbery. Armed with a sharp object, the aggressor threatened the owner of the store.

However, the victim—a man approximately 40 years old—decided to confront the subject in an attempt to protect his business.

During the struggle, the store owner was wounded on multiple occasions. Despite efforts to resist the assault, the injuries proved fatal. Witnesses reported that the attacker fled the scene on foot, and as of now, there is no precise information regarding his whereabouts.

Municipal Police officers arrived at the scene minutes after the attack, followed by paramedics, who confirmed the man no longer showed any vital signs. In response to the crime scene, forensic services from the State Attorney General's Office began the corresponding investigative procedures.

The body of the store owner was transported to the Forensic Medical Service for the legally required autopsy. Meanwhile, agents from the Investigative Police continue the search for the responsible party.

Authorities have asked the public for any information that could help locate the person responsible for this crime, which has left the community of supermanzana 251 in a state of consternation.
