Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa participated in the inauguration of the new Hotel Riu Ventura in Cancún, stating that behind Quintana Roo there is a large group of businesswomen and businessmen who have been able to see here more than a tourist destination, a space for social construction, human development, and shared prosperity.
Accompanied by Pablo Klimann, Director of Operations for the Mexican Caribbean and Costa Rica at Riu Hotels & Resorts, the head of the Executive thanked not only the formal inauguration of this hotel but also for turning to see the workers who are a fundamental part, the essence, of the 12 tourist destinations in the state.
“Collaborators must live well, have a well-paid, well-remunerated job. That is why we are building housing, absorbing all subsidies, federal, state, and municipal governments, so that those who earn two minimum wages have their house with all the basics,” explained Mara Lezama when weighing this project that reaffirms the state’s tourist strength and consolidates the confidence of international investment, particularly Spanish investment, one of the most relevant and with the longest trajectory in the state.
Likewise, she highlighted that the fact of receiving two soccer World Cup teams puts Quintana Roo in the eyes of the world and we want them to take away a great experience.
This inauguration marks a significant event: it is the first hotel opening event that the RIU chain has held in Quintana Roo, reflecting sustained growth and the company’s commitment to the destination. The opening of this new hotel has an immediate social impact with more than 400 new jobs, contributing to the well-being of Quintana Roo families and the growth of local communities.
Pablo Klimann announced that this is the sixth hotel of the chain in Cancún and soon the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancún and the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen will be renovated. “Riu bets on Quintana Roo and grows together with its community, promoting sustainability. The workers are the heart of this hotel,” he said.
With the Hotel Riu Ventura, the RIU chain reaches 6 hotels in Cancún and 15 in Quintana Roo, consolidating itself as the chain with the greatest presence in the state. This expansion not only strengthens the tourist offer of the Mexican Caribbean but also drives the generation of job opportunities and the diversification of services.
RIU Hotels reaches with this opening its 23rd hotel in Mexico, a country where it has consolidated one of its largest social investment bets. This event is also held at a strategic moment for international promotion: just one month before FITUR, a fair in which Mexico will participate for the first time as Spain’s Partner Country, a historic opportunity to strengthen relations, attract new investments, and continue positioning Quintana Roo as a world tourism leader.
The municipal president of Benito Juárez, Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña, welcomed the businesspeople and guests to the event. Also present were Rodrigo de la Peña, president of the Hotel Association of Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres; and Bernardo Cueto Riestra, Secretary of Tourism.
