First Third-Level Hospital Announced for Quintana Roo in Cancún

Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama and IMSS-Bienestar Director Alejandro Svarch touring the site for the new Cancún Specialty Tower.

Cancún, MX. — As part of the strengthening of the healthcare system in Quintana Roo, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and the Director General of IMSS-Bienestar, Alejandro Svarch, toured the land where the Cancún Specialty Tower is planned, a project considered key to expanding specialized medical care in the state.

The work will be developed on the site and as an annex to the current Cancún General Hospital, and aims to offer higher complexity services for the care of adults, girls, and boys who do not have social security, in accordance with the social policies of this humanist government with a feminist heart.

The head of IMSS-Bienestar stated that the Specialty Tower will strengthen medical subspecialties and enable high-complexity services, as well as diagnostic support, directly benefiting more than 835,000 people without social security, who will be able to receive specialized care without needing to leave the state.

For her part, Governor Mara Lezama indicated that the project is planned on a territorial reserve of 26,000 square meters with a construction area of 15,000 square meters, 6 levels, in which 36 specialties, more than 190 beds will be installed, in addition to strategic services such as hemodialysis, care for burn victims, wound clinic, and catheter management.

Alejandro Svarch explained that the new care model leaves behind old isolation schemes, to give way to comprehensive spaces with a humanist conception. The complex will have differentiated areas for men, women, girls, and boys, with specialists in each area.

“It is great news and a great advance. It is part of what we do in humanist governments: listen to the human being, address their ailment from all angles, considering not only the patient but also their family environment,” expressed the Governor.
