Cancún, Quintana Roo — Brazilian airline Gol will launch a permanent direct flight service between Cancún and Brasilia starting June 20, the Quintana Roo state government announced. The route will operate three times weekly as part of an expansion in connectivity between the Mexican tourist hub and Brazil.
The announcement came during a tourism event in Cancún this weekend, where officials also revealed the implementation of an electronic visa for Brazilian citizens. This move has renewed interest from airlines, travel agencies, and tour operators in the destination, potentially doubling tourist arrivals from Brazil this year.
Bernardo Cueto Riestra, head of the State Tourism Department, said the event gathered over 200 travel agents and airlines operating routes between Brazil and Mexico, including Aeroméxico, Gol, Azul, Avianca, and Copa. He noted that Avianca and Copa are also considering expanding connectivity through routes with layovers in Panama and Colombia.
With the new Cancún-Brasilia connection, Gol will become the third airline currently offering direct flights between Mexico and Brazil, joining Aeroméxico and LATAM, which operate services between Mexico City and São Paulo.
