Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Cozumel Carnival 2026 will officially get underway with a high-profile concert by Gloria Trevi, who will headline the opening night on Saturday, January 17 at 10:00 p.m. at the Moby Dick Entertainment Center. The performance will feature Trevi’s greatest hits and sets the tone for one of the oldest and most significant carnival celebrations in Quintana Roo.
Ticket sales for the concert begin Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at a booth installed at the Municipal Palace, with prices set at 500 pesos presale and 600 pesos on the day of the event. That same day also marks the official presentation of candidates for the 2026 Carnival Kings and Queens, signaling the formal start of the carnival season.
A Carnival with Deep Roots on Cozumel
Carnival in Cozumel dates back more than 150 years, making it one of Mexico’s longest continuously celebrated carnivals. Traditionally held in the weeks leading up to Lent, the festival blends music, dance, satire, elaborate costumes, and massive parades that draw locals and visitors alike. Over time, Cozumel’s carnival has grown into a major cultural and tourism event, known for its inclusive competitions, themed dances, and nationally recognized musical acts.
