More Than Four Decades of History
With more than 40 years behind it, Otoño Cultural has become one of Yucatán’s most important festivals, bringing together local, national and international artists in venues across Mérida’s historic center.
The festival was founded in 1983 by the Sociedad Artística “José Rubio Milán” as a space dedicated to music, and over the years expanded to include film, literature, dance and theater. In the early 2000s, under the guidance of cultural promoter Jorge Esma Bazán, it became an official event of the Yucatán state government, cementing its place in the state’s cultural calendar.
