Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Mexico — One man was rescued after being held against his will and four alleged hitmen were detained following an armed confrontation that occurred yesterday in Chunhuhub, within the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
The confrontation took place around midday yesterday during an operation involving personnel from the Investigative Police, the National Guard, and the Municipal Police.
According to unofficial data, the officers were conducting a search operation for missing persons when they reportedly spotted two individuals traveling on a motorcycle with pistols in their waistbands.
After a brief pursuit, military elements and the armed men engaged in a confrontation that concluded at a ranch, where the subjects attempted to take shelter.
Faced with this situation, the uniformed officers entered the property and succeeded in detaining four individuals, as well as rescuing a man who had been deprived of his liberty.
The rescued man was subsequently transported under a heavy security detail to the hospital in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, as he showed signs of torture and injuries to his buttocks and abdomen, caused by blows from a wooden board.
The injured man was identified as A. G. C. C., 28, who declined to provide further details on the matter.
Meanwhile, the detainees were transferred to the Public Prosecutor's Office. No further details about them have been provided at this time, other than that they are part of a criminal cell generating violence in the Zona Maya.
The ranch where the rescue occurred has been secured by ministerial agents. For their part, the military elements maintain operations in the community and surrounding areas.
