Tragic Suicide: Foreign National Found Dead in Playa Del Carmen Condo

A foreign national was found dead in the early hours of Saturday in a Playa Del Carmen condominium, Valle Aurora, located in the Ejido neighborhood. The death is suspected to be a suicide. The body was discovered around 1 am and was reported by the apartment owner shortly after.

The apartment is situated on 36th Street with 125th Avenue, adjacent to Castillo Canino. The owner had returned from a trip and decided to check on his friend, the tenant, who had been out of touch for several days. Concern had been raised by the tenant's family who had been inquiring about his whereabouts.

Upon entering the second-floor apartment, the owner was met with an unpleasant odor. He found the deceased next to a Bible, with a gun in his right hand. A crumpled farewell note was also found at the scene, surrounded by bullets.

The deceased has been identified as Erick Rokenbag, a foreign national. The apartment owner promptly reported the incident to the police. Forensic experts from the State Prosecutor's Office were later dispatched to the scene to remove the body.

This is not the first suspected suicide in the Valle Aurora condominium. In May of last year, a woman reportedly took her life by jumping from the ninth floor of the same building.
