Following heavy rainfall which resulted in 120 out of 147 districts in the city being submerged, efforts continued on Sunday to clear blockages in sewers and absorption wells. The worst hit areas included the Venustiano Carranza district, also known as "Las Casitas", where water levels rose to over one and a half meters.
Two emergency shelters have been set up in the city at the "Eva Sámano de López Mateos" Technical Baccalaureate Study Center and the CBTIS 253. In addition, food packages are being distributed to affected families through the state's DIF system, while emergency services remain on high alert. On Saturday alone, 78 aid requests were attended to and 762 individuals were evacuated from their homes.
The city government has urged residents to take precautions, advising against disposing of garbage until the arrival of waste collection vehicles. This is to prevent further blockages in the drainage systems and canals, and to ensure water can recede as quickly as possible.
