Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced that judges have ordered five men to stand trial for alleged drug trafficking offenses in Playa del Carmen and Cozumel.

In a hearing in Playa del Carmen, a judge formally charged Heriberto “N” and Omar “N” with possession of cannabis for distribution.

Separately, also in Playa del Carmen, authorities charged Ernesto “N” and Rodrigo “N” with simple drug possession after catching them red-handed with marijuana. The judge ordered them held in pretrial detention while the criminal case proceeds.

In Cozumel, Darwing Iván “N” faces charges for allegedly possessing marijuana and methamphetamine for distribution. The court also ordered him held in pretrial detention during the legal proceedings.

The State Prosecutor’s Office stated that these rulings resulted from evidence presented by prosecutors, which allowed judges to determine the defendants’ probable involvement in drug crimes.
