Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa, and the Director General of Infonavit, Octavio Romero Oropeza, have supervised the construction of the first homes under the "Vivienda para el Bienestar" program in the El Edén subdivision, one of the most advanced developments in the state.

During the tour, they verified the quality of the buildings that will be delivered in the coming weeks to the beneficiaries of the program promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum. The program's objective is to guarantee access to dignified housing for low-income workers.

Mara Lezama emphasized that this project represents a profound change in the country's housing policy, focused on well-being and social justice. "Just a few months ago we managed to get more houses for Quintana Roo, and today they are a reality. The first 192 homes will be delivered on November 1, here in Playa del Carmen," she stated.

The El Edén subdivision contemplates a total of 992 homes, with complete services, green areas, and community spaces designed to promote social interaction and development. The governor underscored that the program also extends to other municipalities, including Cancún, where similar projects are advancing.

"We are transforming lives, generating opportunities, and fulfilling the dream of many families to have their own home," she expressed.

35,000 Homes Projected for This Year

For his part, Octavio Romero Oropeza reported that Infonavit has contracted the construction of 12,000 homes in different parts of the state and aims to close the year with 35,000, in addition to having 45,000 more nearing contract signing for the following year.

"We have just toured three developments in Cancún and the quality of the homes is extraordinary," he highlighted.

The official detailed that beneficiaries of the program must earn between one and two minimum wages, have formal employment, be contributing to Infonavit, and not own a home. "Based on these requirements, they will be granted a credit equivalent to the total cost of the house," he specified.
