Cancún, Mexico — A fire on Saturday afternoon completely consumed a palapa and several objects at a residence in Supermanzana 233, mobilizing emergency response teams. The incident was reported around 6:30 PM via a call to the 911 emergency number, indicating that a home was in flames at the intersection of Calles 43 and 82 in the aforementioned supermanzana.

Personnel from the Fire Department, Civil Protection, and Municipal Police immediately traveled to the site to attend to the emergency.

Upon arrival, firefighters worked intensely to extinguish the flames, which had already reduced a palapa-style structure to ashes. Furthermore, the fire reached various appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, and grills, as a small repair workshop also operated at the address.

During the response to the incident, a couple was assisted by paramedics after suffering from a severe nervous crisis and possible smoke inhalation. Fortunately, no individuals were reported injured with burns.

Preliminarily, it is presumed that the fire was caused by a short circuit, although authorities have not yet issued an official report on the exact cause. Investigations continue to clarify the origin of the incident and assess the material damages.
