Cancún, Mexico — Solidarity and social justice took tangible form in Quintana Roo with the free restitution of recovered vehicles to their rightful owners. In a joint effort between the State Government and the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), Governor Mara Lezama led the return of 31 stolen motorcycles and two stolen automobiles, with the beneficiaries paying no towing or impound lot fees.
The event, held at the Salvamento del Caribe impound lot, brought together dozens of citizens who recovered their vehicles after months of waiting. The motorcycles and cars had been secured as part of various investigations and were under official custody.
Owners Express Gratitude for Vehicle Return
During the handover, the owners expressed their gratitude to the state leader and the Attorney General for this measure, which they said "does not just return a material possession, but also restores confidence in the institutions."
Simultaneously, another four motorcycles were returned to their owners at the base of the Secretary of Citizen Security, thereby increasing the number of families benefiting from this action.
Mara Lezama emphasized that this program reflects her administration's commitment to justice with a human face, one that prioritizes reparations for damages and avoids placing financial burdens on victims of crime.
"When the government and society walk together, justice stops being a procedure and becomes hope," she stated.
For its part, the FGE of Quintana Roo reiterated its commitment to zero impunity, transparency, and dignified service to the citizenry, while also assuring that actions to strengthen trust and collaboration between the population and the authorities will continue.
