Cancún’s Free Art & Lit Festival This Saturday

Cancún, Mexico — The Dr. Enrique Barocio Barrios Library will be transformed into a vibrant cultural center this Saturday, September 27, for the Festival of Art and Literature “Everything Begins with an Idea.” From 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the event will offer a rich variety of activities designed for writers, visual artists, illustrators, and young creators who wish to share their talent and connect with new audiences.

Organized by the Áayin Collective, the festival aims to create an inclusive and diverse environment where art is experienced in every corner. During six hours of activities, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy artistic exhibitions, book presentations, and interactive workshops, along with the screening of the second edition of “Hidden Talents: The Time of Short Films.”

This audiovisual showcase will feature the participation of emerging directors such as Carlo Trujano, Alejandro Aguirre, Manuel Segovia, Brittany Ocampo Arroyo, Víctor A. Jiménez, Carlos Arjona, and Maxi Garzo, who will present their works for the public’s enjoyment.

Among the highlighted participants of this edition are the illustrator and festival creator Jessica Couoh; the writer Abdi Asareel Oliva; the visual artist Diego Rodríguez; and the painter Iliana Murillo. Also joining are talents such as the narrator Mario Pérez Aguilar, the storyteller Zariux Luna, the writer Gabriela Domínguez Basáñez, and many more, forming an artistic mosaic that reflects the cultural richness of the region and connects different generations.

The program includes three interactive workshops where attendees can explore their creativity: “Character Creation” led by Javier Giardiello, “Paint an Idea” with Jessica Couoh, and “Tell and Paint” taught by Abdi Oliva. Admission to the event is completely free, providing access to all members of the community interested in art and literature.
