Thailand — The 74th edition of Miss Universe concluded on Thursday, November 20, with a historic result for Mexico, as Fátima Bosch was crowned the new universal queen, joining the list of Mexican women who have achieved this prestigious title.
The representative from Tabasco advanced firmly through each stage of the competition, progressing from the group of 30 semifinalists to the Top 12 and then to the Top 5, until finally being crowned as the absolute winner.
Her journey was not without difficulties. Since her arrival in the host country, Fátima Bosch publicly denounced mistreatment by a contest director, a gesture that earned her international support and made her a figure of strength and female empowerment during this edition.
Thailand, a frequent host of the contest, again stood out for its organizational capacity, despite the internal tensions that accompanied this year’s event.
On social media, candidates such as Yamilex Hernández and Aldana Masset had been mentioned among the favorites; however, in the final hours, Fátima Bosch captured worldwide attention for her performance and charisma on stage.
Despite the tense atmosphere before the final, Bosch surprised by revealing that she suffered a minor accident hours before the coronation, as a fragment of glass had become embedded in her foot. Although it caused her pain, she managed to stay in the competition and walk with firmness.
During the final, the participants paraded in swimwear, evening gowns, and answered various questions from the jury. Fátima stood out not only for her stage presence but also for her confidence and naturalness.
On the gala runway, the Mexican shone in a red and gold dress completely embroidered with jewels, which accentuated her poise and made her one of the most memorable figures of the night.
When the Top 5 were announced, tension grew among the audience and viewers. Fátima was called among the finalists, a reaction she celebrated with evident emotion.
The five contestants went through two rounds of questions: one individual and another collective on how they would use the Miss Universe platform to drive changes related to women, social vulnerability, and the environment.
“If you win the Miss Universe title tonight, how would you use this platform to empower young women?” was the general question that all participants had to answer.
Fátima Bosch’s responses stood out for their message of authenticity, courage, and leadership.
“As Miss Universe, I would tell them to believe in the power of their authenticity. Believe in yourselves because your dreams matter, your heart matters. And never allow anyone to make you doubt yourself and your worth. Because you are worth a lot. You are powerful and your voice deserves to be heard,” she responded firmly.
Her individual question was chosen by her through an envelope, which upon opening read: “In your perspective, what are the challenges of being a woman in the year 2025 and how would you use the Miss Universe title to create a safe environment for women in the world?”
The Tabasco native responded: “As a woman and as Miss Universe, I would raise my voice and put it at the service of others, because today we are here to raise our voices and create change. We are women who must rise up, the women who rise with courage are the ones who make history.”
With these answers, she managed to win over the jury and the public, securing her place as the new Miss Universe 2025, the first from Tabasco to win the crown and the fourth Mexican in the history of the contest, after Lupita Jones, Ximena Navarrete, and Andrea Meza.
