Chetumal — The presentation of the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development Quintana Roo 2050 brought together more than 2,500 people this Monday at Parque Quintana Roo, where Governor Mara Lezama outlined the social, economic, and environmental development roadmap that will guide the state for the next 25 years.
Among the attendees was the municipal president of Playa del Carmen, Estefanía Mercado, who recognized the importance of this document as a long-term planning tool.
A Shared Vision for the Future
At the conclusion of the event, Mercado stated that the Plan 2050 represents an unprecedented exercise in citizen participation, integrating representatives from the productive sector, academics, professionals, Mayan dignitaries, unions, and autonomous organizations in its construction. According to the mayor, this collective work strengthens decision-making and allows for outlining growth based on evidence and clear goals.

Mercado affirmed that Playa del Carmen will fully incorporate the plan’s objectives, with special emphasis on projects that favor social cohesion, urban infrastructure, innovation, and an orderly development model that prioritizes people’s well-being. She added that the state vision also marks a path to articulate efforts among municipalities.
Governor’s Message
The presentation included audiovisual materials and testimonies from those who participated in the process, before concluding with a message from Governor Mara Lezama, who recalled that the strategy seeks to promote the integral growth of Quintana Roo with concrete actions and a sustained future projection.
