Cancún, Quintana Roo — A vicious beating was committed against an elderly person beside a beer store in Supermanzana 235, where an individual attacked him with a stick and left him bleeding.

Residents condemned this attack and expressed outrage over the delayed response of more than an hour for the arrival of an ambulance, while municipal police ignored the emergency call, as no patrol car arrived to locate the aggressor.

These events occurred in Block 19, on 116th Street, near the avenue known as Rancho Viejo. Witnesses mentioned that the elderly person was lying in the sidewalk area next to the entrance of the beer store.

Without apparent motive, an individual approached the victim and began beating him with what could be a stick or a piece of hard plastic. He repeatedly struck his head, arms, and legs, before leaving the scene.

Faced with this situation, residents made calls to the emergency number 911, but without an ambulance or police arriving at the scene to take charge of the situation, while the injured person lost considerable blood from a head wound.

Due to the lack of help, the victim got up and tried to leave, with limited mobility in one of his legs from the blows received, so one of the neighbors told him to sit back down while waiting for emergency services.

Residents made several calls to the emergency number 911, and after an hour, a Green Angels ambulance arrived at 116th Street. Paramedics treated his wounds and applied a bandage to his head, to transport him to the General Hospital.

However, police never arrived at the scene, a situation that also angered residents, because they considered that the aggressor remained for some time near the beer store, meaning they could have detained him.

Some residents believed that because he was a homeless person, police did not arrive and emergency services were delayed in responding.
