Eight Injured in Rollover Crash on Playa del Carmen Boulevard

A rolled-over Nissan NP300 truck on the boulevard after a collision

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A rollover crash on the Playa del Carmen boulevard near Mayakoba left eight people injured Friday night, prompting a large emergency response.

According to municipal traffic investigators, the accident occurred when a Nissan NP300 pickup truck traveling south on the shoulder attempted to merge onto the boulevard and was struck on its left rear side by a GMC Terrain SUV moving in the same direction.

The impact sent the Nissan careening across the road, where it overturned. Paramedics treated the eight injured at the scene before transporting them to various hospitals for further evaluation.

Both vehicles were seized and taken to an impound lot pending a determination of fault.
