Cancún — The arrest of Ignacio Eduardo, alias "El Compi," has once again exposed the reach of the Los Bonfiles Cartel, led by Leticia Rodríguez Lara, alias "Doña Lety," who maintains an alliance with the "Mayito Flaco" faction and the "Los Caborca" cartel, groups that control the southern part of Quintana Roo.
According to investigations, "El Compi" is not only directly linked to the rental of the Sac-Lol ranch, where at least 16 sets of human remains were located on November 6, but he is also part of the criminal structure headed by "Doña Lety," the leader of the so-called Los Bonfiles Cartel.
This group, allied with the "Mayito Flaco" faction of the Sinaloa Cartel and with the Los Caborca Cartel, has expanded its presence in the municipalities of Puerto Morelos and Benito Juárez, maintaining control primarily in the Ruta de los Cenotes and in hotel zones of both demarcations.
The arrest of "El Compi" was carried out in the Supermanzana 107 neighborhood of Cancún, on Playa Xcalacoco street in the Paraíso Maya subdivision, by agents of the Investigative Police attached to the Specialized Homicide Prosecutor's Office.
Although the arrest was initially made for crimes Against Health and Violation of the Federal Law of Firearms and Explosives, subsequent investigations link him directly to the clandestine cemetery and to criminal activities attributed to this violence-generating organization.
During the intervention, a .40 caliber firearm with a loaded magazine, useful cartridges, green plant material with the characteristics of marijuana, and several vehicle license plates from Quintana Roo, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Mexico City were seized from "El Compi."
Both the detainee and the evidence were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which will determine his legal status within the established timeframes.
The Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo indicated that it will continue with the investigations to clarify the network of participation behind the clandestine cemetery and to reinforce actions to guarantee justice for the victims and security in the region.
