Diego Castañon has emerged as the clear victor in the race for the mayoral position of Tulum. He is now the presumptive mayor, having secured 52.91 percent of the votes, which amounts to a total of 14,958 votes.
An effective count of the votes from the 80 polling stations scattered across the municipality revealed a total of 27,643 votes. Of these, Castañon received 14,958 votes, while his nearest rival garnered 11,781 votes. This resulted in a lead of 3,177 votes for Castañon, representing the Sigamos Haciendo Historia coalition in Tulum.
This lead equates to an 11.20 point difference, which enables the continuation of a transformative government in Tulum.
On Sunday night, the newly elected mayor expressed his gratitude to the populace for their renewed vote of confidence. He shared his vision of unity, stating that "in Tulum, the best is yet to come."
