A cyclist was seriously injured, potentially suffering a fracture, after being hit by a car on Hipocampo Avenue in Playa del Carmen. Eyewitnesses reported that the cyclist was moving at a high speed and without due caution when the accident occurred.

Paramedics quickly arrived at the scene and attended to the victim, who seemed to have possibly fractured his ankle from the impact of the collision. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.

Doctors at the hospital will determine the severity of his injuries and decide whether surgery or a cast is required. Meanwhile, authorities remained at the accident site to conduct their investigation and establish the responsibilities related to the incident.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident was asked to provide a statement about the event. Additionally, the victim's bicycle was taken to an impound lot by a patrol unit.

In response to the accident, which occurred on May 6, local authorities have issued a reminder to cyclists to exercise extreme caution when using roads with a maximum speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour, in an effort to prevent fatal accidents.
