Tulum — The First Councilor seat on the Tulum City Council will have a new temporary holder after David Manances “Fili” Tah Balam requested a 60-day leave to step away from the position.
Cristino Ake Mahay, who is listed as Tah Balam’s substitute in the composition of the Cabildo for the 2024-2027 term, will assume the corresponding duties for as long as the leave remains in effect.
The separation occurs amid internal movements within Morena in Tulum, where Tah Balam is seeking to participate in the process to head the Municipal Coordination of the Fourth Transformation.
Fili Tah Balam is one of the founders and party cadres with a track record within Morena in the municipality, while Ake Mahay also maintains political participation within the party and has accompanied Tah Balam for years.
Both had already been part of the same ticket for the First Councilor seat in the previous term and were again registered as officeholder and substitute for the current municipal administration.
