Court Rejects Lili Campos Injunction in Playa del Carmen Funds Case

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A federal court has rejected an injunction filed by former Playa del Carmen mayor Lili Campos, clearing the way for her to be held to account over the alleged mismanagement of municipal funds during the 2024 fiscal year.

The Second District Court dismissed the injunction Campos had filed against an administrative proceeding brought by the municipality’s Internal Control Body (OIC). After failing to locate her at her home, authorities issued a public notice summoning the former mayor to appear.

The case is registered under file number 1017/2026.

Former Treasurer and Events Director Also Named

Also named in the case are former municipal treasurer Kira Iris San and José Luis Argüelles González, the former director of events, who, together with other ex-officials, have filed a string of injunctions in district courts across the region in an effort to block audits, requests for information and appearances before authorities.

Audits Cover Close of Previous Administration

The OIC’s administrative investigations, led by Cristina Alcérreca Manzanero, form part of the reviews of the 2024 Public Accounts, covering the close of the previous municipal administration.

Campos and two other former officials had already been summoned to testify over alleged irregularities in the 2023 Public Accounts.
