Cancún, Quintana Roo — A judge has ordered a second criminal charge against a couple in Cancún for their alleged involvement in a homicide, following an earlier charge related to drug trafficking, the State Prosecutor’s Office announced.
José Rafael “N” and Fernanda “N” now face charges of aggravated homicide in the death of an unidentified man, in addition to prior charges for allegedly supplying marijuana.
The judicial authority handed down the second charge during a hearing for events that occurred on March 9 in the Villas Otoch neighborhood of Cancún.
Investigations indicate that the accused, along with other individuals, went to the victim’s home as he arrived on a motorcycle with his partner. One of the group reportedly confronted the victim over alleged damages from a previous incident, leading to an argument.
During the altercation, one of the assailants allegedly fired a gun at the victim, killing him. The participants then reportedly threatened the victim’s partner to prevent her from reporting the crime before fleeing the scene.
In addition to the criminal charge, the judge imposed a two-year preventive detention order on José Rafael “N” and Fernanda “N”.
