Cancún, Mexico — Cancún was once again the scene of violence following a shooting on Monday night that claimed the lives of a couple who were expecting a baby. The death of the expectant father and mother prompted a significant mobilization in the area where the tragic event occurred.

How the Attack Unfolded According to the Authorities' Report

A preliminary report from the authorities indicates the incident occurred around 9:30 PM on Monday, November 10, in Region 237, on Calle 116, opposite lot 26. The couple was traveling in a gray Nissan Tsuru.

Upon reaching the intersection with Calle 15, two individuals traveling on a motorcycle pulled alongside the vehicle, and one of them opened fire repeatedly on the occupants. The driver, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen, died immediately, remaining slumped over the steering wheel.

His wife, who had wounds to her thorax, cried out for help but was unable to get out of the car. Neighbors who heard the gunshots came out of their homes and requested support via the 911 emergency number.

After several minutes, paramedics from the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Squad (ERUM) arrived at the scene and confirmed the man's death. The woman was urgently transported to the General Hospital; however, it was confirmed that both she and her baby had died.

What Was the Response from the Authorities?

Agents from the State Attorney General's Office, criminal experts, and elements of the National Guard cordoned off the area to carry out the corresponding procedures. Neighbors, still in shock, stated that the couple was not known in the area.
