Cancún, Quintana Roo — Construction of the Kukulcán road distributor in Cancun’s Hotel Zone is 33% complete, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT). The project, a complement to the Nichupté Vehicular Bridge inaugurated in May, has an investment of 484 million pesos ($26 million USD).
Work is currently focused on raising columns, asphalt foundations, soil compaction, and developing piles, footings, and reinforcing steel. Underground infrastructure for drinking water and drainage networks is also underway.
The 1.92-kilometer distributor will include a 0.77-kilometer elevated structure. Officials say it will benefit 1.3 million residents and millions of tourists who visit the destination each year.
Construction is taking place within existing rights of way on Boulevard Kukulcán, affecting axes 100, 200, 80, 60, and 70, as well as part of the Nichupté bridge right of way. The SICT expects to complete the work by the end of October, weather permitting.
