Cancún, Mexico — The Quintana Roo Sports Commission (CODEQ), led by Jacobo Arzate Hop, has officially presented the 2025 edition of its renowned summer camp program, Baaxlo’ob Paalalo’ob. The recreational and sports initiative will run from July 21 to August 8 in both Cancún and Chetumal, offering children a structured schedule of athletic, cultural, and educational activities.
Program Details and Objectives
The camp aligns with the New Agreement for Wellbeing and Development, a policy promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, which emphasizes youth development through sports as a tool for fostering peace in the region. Activities will take place Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the renovated Bicentenario Sports Complex in Chetumal and additional locations in Cancún.
“We are thrilled to introduce this recreational-sports program, which has become a tradition and provides a valuable alternative for families,” said CODEQ Director Jacobo Arzate Hop. “This year, participants will enjoy activities at an affordable cost.”
Activities and Registration
The program includes a diverse range of sports such as baseball, boxing, soccer, weightlifting, swimming, table tennis, and volleyball. Recreational components feature nutritional and motivational talks, while cultural workshops will focus on music and painting.
Erik Rojas Serrano, CODEQ’s High Performance Coordinator, confirmed that registration costs 350 pesos per child, with a cap of 300 participants in Chetumal. Enrollment is open until July 18 and must be completed in person at the CODEQ’s Deporte Para Todos department office in Chetumal between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays.
