CJNG Leader Captured in Cozumel in Third Recent Blow

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Authorities have dealt another blow to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), this time on the island of Cozumel in Quintana Roo. According to official reports, a leader of this criminal organization has been apprehended, marking the third high-ranking member of the same group detained in recent days.

The State Attorney General’s Office reported that, as a result of a coordinated operation with elements from the Navy, Defense, State Police, and Municipal Police, four individuals allegedly belonging to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) were detained. Among them was Miguel Alexander “N”, alias “Dumbo”, identified as the leader of the criminal cell on the island.

The other detainees are: Aarón “N”, Kevin Orlando “N”, and Ever Eladio “N”. During an operation conducted on 33 South Street in the Colonos Cuzamil neighborhood, authorities seized substances resembling marijuana, as well as a long firearm and a short 9mm firearm with a loaded magazine and live cartridges.

According to initial investigations, the detainees are allegedly linked to two homicides: the first occurred on October 28 of this year on Félix González Canto Avenue, and the second on December 5 in the Flores Magón I neighborhood. The victim in the second case was the father of a leader from a rival criminal group, considered a priority target in the State’s Criminal Atlas.

In both cases, Miguel Alexander “N”, the CJNG leader, is allegedly linked as the intellectual author, also responsible for distributing weapons, drugs, and resources, as well as ordering attacks against members of rival gangs on the island.

The detainees and seized evidence were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status within the constitutional timeframe.

Third Blow to CJNG

On December 6, Emilio Alejandro “N” was detained, allegedly the plaza boss of the CJNG in northern Quintana Roo, implicated in crimes against public health and violations of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.

It should be noted that, based on intelligence and field investigation work, Emilio Alejandro “N”, known as “H” and/or “Danone”, is considered the plaza boss of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in the northern zone of Quintana Roo, primarily in the municipalities of Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Lázaro Cárdenas, Cozumel, Benito Juárez, and Isla Mujeres.

The dangerous individual intellectually led actions to expand territory controlled by the CJNG under the name “Deltas: Operativa Jaguar”. In recent weeks, a significant seizure of weapons and tactical equipment with the same logos and letters was achieved from this group.

Previously, the alleged leader of the same CJNG in Playa del Carmen had been detained, making this the third blow against this criminal group.
