CJNG Leader Detained in Cozumel Operation

The State Attorney General’s Office reported the detention of four individuals belonging to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) as a result of an operation coordinated with elements of the Navy, Defense, State Police, and Municipal Police.

The detainees were identified as Miguel Alexander “N”, alias Dumbo, who is identified as the leader of this criminal group on the island of Cozumel. The other three individuals were identified as Aarón “N”, Kevin Orlando “N”, and Ever Eladio “N”. During an operation on 33 Sur Street in the Colonos Cuzamil neighborhood, substances similar to marijuana were seized, as well as a long firearm and a short firearm, caliber 9 mm, with a loaded magazine and useful cartridges.

Links to Two Homicides

According to the information, the detainees would have a connection to two homicides: the first recorded on October 28 of this year, on Félix Gonzáles Canto Avenue, and the second on December 5 in the Flores Magón I neighborhood, whose victim was the father of the leader of a rival criminal group, considered a priority target in the State’s Criminal Atlas.

In both incidents, Miguel Alexander “N” is linked as the alleged intellectual author, as well as the distribution of weapons, drugs, and resources, and ordering attacks against members of rival gangs in Cozumel.

The detainees and the seized evidence were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, who will determine the legal situation of the four detainees.
