Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The Organizing Committee of the Chetumal 21K Race officially presented the 2026 Sports Calendar for southern Quintana Roo, which includes 13 events throughout the year encompassing conventional, adapted, and adventure sports disciplines. The initiative aims to strengthen physical activity, social participation, and the positive projection of the state capital.
The presentation was led by Yurissan Hernández Rovira, head of the organizing committee, who was accompanied by Jacobo Arzate, president of the Quintana Roo Sports Commission; Omar Govea, state undersecretary of Tourism; José Canul, director of the Municipal Sports Institute; Josué Osmany Palomo Hoil, president of Coparmex Chetumal; and Adrián Tello, representative of ViveDeporte.
Yurissan Hernández Rovira headed the official announcement of the annual program. During her remarks, Hernández Rovira explained that this sports agenda emerges as a collaborative exercise between the private sector, business chambers, sports clubs, gyms, and educational institutions, with the goal of organizing and planning events in the region. She emphasized that one of the main objectives is to consolidate emblematic events like the Chetumal 21K while promoting the incorporation of new projects.
The calendar will begin on February 21 with the First Mixed Duathlon in the community of Calderitas, while on February 28 the Athletic Race for the 40th anniversary of the Primitivo Alonso School will take place on Boulevard Bahía. For March 29, the Athletic Race for the second anniversary of R24 is scheduled, also on Boulevard Bahía.
The Chetumal 21K will be one of the most prominent events on the calendar. In May, on May 1, the Children’s Race for Children’s Day will be held, and on May 16 a sailing regatta will be celebrated in the Xul-Ha Lagoon, with participation from clubs across the state. In June, Bacalar will host the Makro Infantil Track and Field on June 15 and 16, and on June 20 a Mixed Martial Arts event will take place in Parque Quintana Roo.
On July 4, Boulevard Bahía will host the “Professor Alberto Aguilar Noble” Cycling Race. One of the most anticipated events on the calendar will be the fifth edition of the Chetumal 21K Race, which will take place on August 8, with a new certified route that will allow runners to traverse natural areas and the city center.
The agenda will continue on September 5 with the Korvex Crossfit competition, on September 13 with Cross Country in Laguna Guerrero, and on November 7 and 8 with the First Adapted Sports Meeting. The calendar will conclude on December 5 with the traditional Christmas Race.
