Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Mexican Caribbean’s music scene is set for an intense day of music, community, and culture with the first edition of “Caribe Suena,” a festival expected to draw over four thousand people to a five-hectare space in Playa del Carmen.

The event will take place at Gran Palapa Park with a format of 12 continuous hours of activities, from noon to midnight, where music will be the central focus but not the only attraction.

For Santiago Bello, founder and director of the festival, this first edition represents the realization of a dream—a project that aims to bring together different generations around music in an environment that introduces visitors to the magic of the Mayan world.

“Caribe Suena was born with the intention of creating a space for family gatherings where the music, culture, and gastronomy of the Caribbean can be enjoyed in one place,” Bello explained. “The festival seeks to strengthen community ties and offer an accessible, fun cultural experience for residents and visitors of the Riviera Maya.”

The musical lineup features iconic bands from various genres that have marked multiple generations, including Liran’ Roll, Kinky, Genitallica, Inspector, Antidoping, Ganja, and Trágico Ballet. These groups headline a program designed to maintain the festival’s energy throughout the day, alongside local bands such as Corpusklan, Caribean Voodoo, Bass Attack ft Rasjahshua, Sonido Chingón, Egregor, Johnny Leal, The Ritmo, Cherry Cola, Kid Maga, and Jane 51.

In addition to music, the event will include live wrestling, an activity area for children, a food zone, on-site parking, and a crafts market with over 40 local entrepreneurs and artisans, allowing attendees to enjoy a comprehensive cultural experience.

As part of the logistics, exclusive transportation routes will be set up in Playa del Carmen to facilitate travel to the festival venue.

Local businesses have also joined the initiative by offering accommodation options and facilities for visitors from other cities, with the goal of making this first edition a complete experience for those traveling to the Riviera Maya.

To encourage family participation, the organizers have launched various promotions and giveaways, including a raffle for an official t-shirt and a Fender guitar autographed by the participating bands, valued at over 25,000 pesos.

Tickets can be purchased at Hotel Reef 28 in Playa del Carmen, as well as at McCarthy’s and Pescaditos in Cancún, plus online sales through Arema.mx. Tickets are affordably priced with discounts for Quintana Roo residents, while children under five enter free.

Susana López, director of Dimensión Total, highlighted the support from brands and commercial partners that have allowed the project to materialize.

The businesswoman emphasized the importance of backing this type of cultural and musical production, as it creates spaces to promote local and emerging talent from the southeast, in addition to generating economic opportunities for those involved in the organization.

López noted that if more events of this magnitude are desired in the region, it is essential that the community, businesses, and the public continue to support initiatives like Caribe Suena, which aim to consolidate new cultural gathering spaces in the Riviera Maya.
