Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Caribe Suena 2026 music festival drew more than 4,000 attendees to Playa del Carmen over the weekend, transforming the city into a hub of rock, ska, and reggae during a 12-hour marathon of continuous performances.

Organizers split the event into two stages to maintain a steady flow of energy. The main stage featured iconic acts that resonated throughout the region, including Inspector and Antidoping with ska and reggae rhythms, and Ganja and Corpusklan with Caribbean sounds. Rock bands Kinky, Genitallica, Liran’ Roll, Trágico Ballet, and Caribbean Voodoo provided alternative and high-energy performances.

Meanwhile, the alternate stage showcased emerging talent with acts like Rasjahshua, Sonido Chingón, Egregor, Johnny Leal, The Ritmo, Cherry Cola, Kid Maga, and Jane 51, highlighting the diversity of the current music scene.

The festival extended beyond music to include a gastronomic and commercial zone with over 40 local entrepreneurs, boosting the regional economy. Additional entertainment featured a wrestling exhibition and a family area, making the event accessible to all ages.

“Caribe Suena was born with the intention of creating community through music… This edition demonstrates that the Mexican Caribbean has the potential to develop festivals with their own identity,” organizers said at the event’s close.

The festival provided a tangible benefit to Playa del Carmen’s hospitality, dining, and commerce sectors, reinforcing the destination’s appeal beyond its beaches and positioning it as a competitive venue for regional and national cultural events. Organizers now aim to establish Caribe Suena as an annual platform that not only brings big names but also promotes local talent and strengthens social ties through art.
