Cancún Women’s Half Marathon Draws 2,500 Runners from 31 Countries

Cancún, Quintana Roo — 2,500 runners from 31 countries participated in the Cancún Women’s Half Marathon 2026 on Sunday, held at Malecón Tajamar ahead of International Women’s Day.

The event, now in its 11th consecutive year, featured distances of 5, 10, and 21 kilometers in categories including Open, Submaster, Master, Veterans, and Veterans Plus.

Alejandro Luna López, director of the Benito Juárez Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, fired the starting gun on behalf of municipal president Ana Paty Peralta. He was joined by Jacobo Arzate Hop, head of the Quintana Roo Sports Commission, and Armando Macías Bribiesca, director of Motion Events.

After the races, participants received commemorative medals, with women also receiving natural roses as part of the celebration.

In the 21-kilometer race, Rosa Cruz Urbina and Daniel García Fernández took the top overall spots. Winners were also recorded in the 10- and 5-kilometer distances across various age categories.
