Cancún, Mexico — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa declared that Cancún is set to become an international epicenter with the upcoming diplomatic meeting between President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The Governor made the statements during her broadcast of the program "The Voice of the People," asserting that such high-level visits reflect the confidence and security conditions prevailing in the state of Quintana Roo.

A Historic Diplomatic and Economic Agenda

Governor Lezama emphasized that the meeting between the two heads of state is a historic event, during which they will discuss topics of friendship, culture, education, trade, and cooperation between Mexico and Germany. She stated that President Sheinbaum's presence represents a strong boost for the development, well-being, and shared prosperity of Quintana Roo's people.

In addition to the diplomatic meeting, the President's agenda includes participation in the inauguration of the 89th Banking Convention, which brings together the financial and business sectors. Lezama highlighted that this convention will gather more than 50 financial institutions from around the world to address topics such as digital transformation and access to credit.

President Sheinbaum's working tour will also include her morning press conference, security meetings, the supervision of the Nichupté bridge, the delivery of the Maya Ka'an certificate in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and an assembly of Women of Well-being.

Security Achievements and Clarifications on Missing Children

Regarding security, the Governor highlighted a 69.3 percent reduction in crime rates, representing more than six thousand fewer crimes. She attributed this result to the state's peacebuilding strategy and the strengthening of police equipment.

In response to reports of missing children, Governor Lezama clarified that there are no missing children in the city. She explained that 20 Amber Alert requests were activated between March 6 and 13, all related to family reports for particular situations. All children were found in good health and were confirmed not to be victims of any crime; in all cases, the children were with family or friends, with one found in a park.

Lezama stated that her administration handles each report with "immense responsibility," activating the Amber Alert immediately through the State Attorney General's Office to protect minors and facilitate their prompt location. Search efforts continue until children are found, after which the alert is officially deactivated. She called on citizens to share only verified information and act responsibly on social media to avoid misinformation.

Social Programs, Infrastructure, and Tourism

On social initiatives, the Governor reported the delivery of 90 homes as part of the Housing for Well-being program, with thousands more projected throughout the state. Marking National Artisan Day, she highlighted government support for artisans through loans, digital tablets, and assistance to strengthen sales, stating, “They are protagonists of culture and identity, and they preserve ancient techniques. Today, under this government, they are being made visible.”

In public health, she announced the start of an anti-rabies campaign from March 22 to 28, with more than 170,000 vaccines available at 44 vaccination modules across the state's 11 municipalities.

Regarding infrastructure, Lezama highlighted progress on a biogas plant using sargassum. To address the seaweed phenomenon, the state is proactively installing barriers—9,500 meters were deployed last year, with 15,000 meters planned for this year, alongside collection vessels and boats. She also mentioned that maintenance of Colosio Boulevard was expedited and is already underway following negotiations with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation.

In tourism, she reiterated the importance of promoting Mexican Caribbean destinations and announced new air connections, including a Cancun-Monterrey route.

Final Administrative Calls

Finally, Governor Lezama called on citizens to take advantage of the last few days to pay their vehicle registration fees and to participate in social programs and public hearings, reiterating her administration's commitment to close and direct attention to the population.
