Cancún, Quintana Roo — Following 19 performances of the play “Pato Schnauzer,” which brought together more than 3,000 spectators at the Teatro de la Ciudad, Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta celebrated the conclusion of its first season with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
Leading the activity, the Mayor congratulated the cast, its director Saúl Enríquez, the Institute of Culture and the Arts (ICA), and all the people who made this major project possible. She also thanked the audience that filled every performance, highlighting that they are the reason for art’s existence.
“Tonight we celebrate much more than the end of a season; we celebrate that Cancún is experiencing a new cultural moment, with strength, identity, and hope,” she commented.
Furthermore, she emphasized that art is not a privilege, but a right and a powerful tool for peace, affirming that it will continue to be promoted through the municipal theater, folk dance, and singing companies, as well as through various cultural projects.
Finally, she commented that with the purpose of continuing to consolidate Cancún as a city that pulsates with culture, this destination will host for the first time the 45th edition of the Muestra Nacional de Teatro, the country’s most important stage performance encounter.
In turn, the head of the ICA, Carlos López Jiménez, commented that this play marks the beginning of the program “En Compañía con la Compañía,” a collaboration between the National and Municipal Theater Company, to foster creative dialogue through co-productions.
At the conclusion of this performance, amidst applause and an atmosphere of celebration, Ana Paty Peralta, accompanied by Carlos López Jiménez and the talented Quintana Roo-born singer-songwriter Omar Terrazas, unveiled the commemorative plaque, a symbol of the conclusion of this memorable theatrical event.
