Cancún Launches Measles Vaccination Campaign at Workplaces and Hotels

Health workers administering measles vaccines at a workplace in Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Health authorities in Cancún are expanding measles vaccination efforts to workplaces and hotels as outbreaks continue across Quintana Roo, according to union leaders and hotel associations.

Héctor González Rodríguez, the municipal health director for Benito Juárez, said vaccination brigades are administering shots and completing immunization schedules, primarily targeting people under 49. The campaign focuses on the general population but intensifies in high-traffic areas and among tourism workers through partnerships with unions and hotels.

Ricardo Rodríguez, a representative of the Revolutionary Confederation of Workers and Peasants (CROC) at IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute), said prevention efforts continue to protect working families and the community. Under the slogan “Prevention is Our Greatest Strength,” a vaccination campaign against measles and other diseases began on February 20 at union facilities.

“The goal is for affiliated workers to complete their vaccination schedules, promoting a culture of prevention in coordination with IMSS,” Rodríguez explained.

The Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres Hotel Association (AHCPMIM) stated through its spokesperson that each associated resort is taking necessary precautions based on official health authority information. Some hotels have hosted vaccination brigades for staff, though availability depends on vaccine doses for distribution.
