Cancún, Q. Roo — The 'Oktoberfest', the world's most popular Bavarian festival, has commenced at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium. Giovanni Solazzi, vice president of the Iguanas, led the inaugural ceremony alongside Anet Silvia Grace Arens Medina, Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for the state of Quintana Roo.
Also in attendance were Cristina Zametzer, Head of Mission of the Embassy of Germany, and Pablo Casas, Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion for Quintana Roo.
A Joint Celebration with German Partners
In its second edition, and the first held jointly with the participation of the German Consulate in Quintana Roo, the event promises high standards of quality. It features gastronomy, beverages, and entertainment that pay tribute to German culture, offering an unforgettable experience in the style of the original 'Oktoberfest'.
The festival was born in Munich with the marriage of Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria and Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen in 1810. Its success was so resounding that it has evolved ever since, becoming a major and massively attended event.
Since its creation, it has been celebrated continuously, with the exception of periods of war or other major causes, which has only occurred on 24 occasions in its more than two hundred years of existence.
The Official Start
The 'Oktoberfest' officially began when Anet Silvia Grace Arens and Cristina Zametzer opened the first barrel of beer.
Comedian Paul 'El Alemán' and Patrick Kern from the Cancún FC staff, a key figure in the event's organization, were other special guests.
