Cancún, Quintana Roo — To mark National Composer Day, a commemorative event was held at the Casa de la Cultura in Cancún, featuring local composers and the general public. The day included live musical performances and activities focused on showcasing the work of creators and highlighting the importance of composition within the cultural sphere.
At the beginning of the event, motivational words and congratulatory messages were directed to Mexico’s composers to contextualize the date and explain the purpose of the gathering. These interventions served to introduce the artistic program and establish the order of the performances scheduled throughout the event. Subsequently, the audience was informed about the program’s dynamics and the approximate duration of each musical intervention.
The first act on stage featured a piano interpretation by Mónica Ramírez, accompanied by cellist Leandro Espinosa. During this performance, the piece titled Pensamiento y sueño en espiral was performed, marking the formal start of the musical presentations. The interpretation was instrumental and allowed the audience to hear a proposal based on dialogue between the two instruments.
Later, teacher Neiffe Peña, originally from Venezuela, performed the work Caballo viejo by maestro Simón Díaz. Additionally, she included two compositions of her own authorship, titled Extraño, amor y pilón. During her participation, the interpreter referenced the cultural ties between Mexico and Venezuela, explaining the context of the pieces and the origin of their lyrics.
Continuing with the program, 18-year-old Dasha García participated, performing two songs, Love On The Brain and Valerie, accompanied by piano. Her intervention was part of the block dedicated to young interpreters, with the goal of showcasing different musical proposals within the event.
Subsequently, Camila Campos participated as a vocal interpreter with the songs Deja que salga la Luna and Cielo rojo, both recognized within the repertoire of Mexican music. Her presentation took place consecutively and gave way to the last number of the program.
To close the event, Alejandro Shanini performed accompanied by his guitar, interpreting the songs Mujeres divinas, Secreto de amor, and Si nos dejan. This participation marked the end of the musical numbers scheduled for the day.
At the end of each interpretation, the audience present responded with applause, remaining in the venue until the conclusion of the event, which ended according to the program established within the framework of National Composer Day.
