The Cancun Carnival 2025, a vibrant and colorful celebration, has officially begun. The event is organized by the Benito Juarez City Hall and the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts. The festivities kicked off with the traditional 'Bad Mood' burning, a symbolic ritual marking the start of days filled with music, dance, and tradition.
The ceremony took place in the city center. Carlos Lopez Jimenez, head of the department and representative of the Municipal President, Ana Paty Peralta, invited the Cancun community to partake in the grand celebration. He emphasized the importance of the carnival group performances, the crowning of the carnival kings and queens, and the free concerts. These events will take place at the Tajamar Malecon from February 28th to March 4th.
The procession started at the Plaza de la Reforma square. Monks carried the 'Bad Mood' coffin, followed by the carnival kings and queens from 2024 and 2025. Municipal theater and dance companies, along with a drumming band, filled the route with energy, leading the procession to Las Palapas Park.
After an energetic march, the Municipal Theater Company read the Carnival Proclamation. This was followed by the symbolic 'Bad Mood' burning, featuring a remarkable display of cold pyrotechnics. This ritual signifies the start of a period of joyous celebration.
The event concluded with a large community dance in the Foundational Zone of Cancun. The atmosphere was filled with the lively rhythms of salsa, merengue, and bachata. The Cancun Carnival 2025 is poised to be an unforgettable event, uniting families, tourists, and music enthusiasts in one vibrant celebration.
